How to backup your iPhone

The following steps should be used to ensure that you have all of your contacts, settings, music, photos, App Store Applications saved so that they can be restored later.


To backup your iPhone using iTunes use the following steps:

1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes

2. On the left hand pane of iTunes you will see your iPhone appear under devices.  Right click on the iPhone and from the drop down menu select Backup

3. Do not disconnect the iPhone until you see that the backup has completed

Note: The time it takes to backup the iPhone will depend on how much data you have on your iPhone.  3rd Party Applications will not be backed up.

How to restore your iPhone from an earlier backup

If you have to upgrade firmware or restore a firmware on your iPhone at any time using iTunes the iPhone will be wiped of any personal data.  The steps below will restore your personal data that you backed up using the steps above.

1. Connect your iPhone to itunes

2. On the left hand pane of iTunes your iPhone will appear under Devices.  Right click on the iPhone and from the drop down menu select "Restore from Backup" 

3. In the pop up window that appears select the backup that you wish to restore from.  Remember that there may be multiple backups there if you backup your iPhone on a regular basis.
