The following file is for use with an iPhone 4 that will NOT be used on it's original network. If you normally use your iPhone on it's original network please select Option 1 on the previous page. Click here to go back
Please download the following file using the Firefox web browser.
Download File 3: This file is used to jailbreak the iPhone when it is NOT used on the original network.
You will now have downloaded 3 files
File 1: redsn0w_mac_0.9.6rc18.zip (please extract this file from the zip and install it in your applications folder)
File 2: iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw
File 3: inoze.info.iphone4.433.activated.ipsw
Jailbreak instructions: Complete all 12 steps and then use the Unlock instructions if needed.
- Open File 1: redsn0w
- Click on the browse button and select the file you downloaded as File 2: and Click open
- When you see the message that the IPSW has been successfully identified Click Next
- Uncheck all options except "Just enter pwnd DFU mode right now" Click Next
- Follow the onscreen instructions that are shown below:
Points to note at this stage.
The device must be connected to the computer
The device must then be powered off using the slide to power off option.
On the next screen you will be asked to complete three timed instructions that will be displayed on the screen so be prepared. Screenshots of these actions are shown below
First you will be asked to Press the Power button for 3 seconds - a Tip for this step follows the screenshots.
Without releasing the Power Button also hold down the Home button for 10 seconds
Then without releasing the Home button, release the Power Button but keep the Home button pressed down for a further 30 seconds. Successfully doing this will put the device into DFU mode required for the jailbreak.
Important Tip
As you only have 3 seconds to hold the Power button after clicking the Next button I recommend that you start pressing the Power button before you click the Next button.
Putting the device into DFU mode is all about timing and the tip above will avoid you seeing the message below
If you see an error like the one above simply repeat the steps above and ensure that when you are on the screen that tells you to power off the device remember to press and hold the power button just before you click the next button.
When you have successfully entered DFU mode the device will have a blank black screen and will appear unresponsive. This is expected behavour. Redsn0w will display the following message:
6. Click Finish in Redsn0w
7. Open iTunes (this must be version 10.1 or 10.1.1)
8. Accept all of the messages about finding a device in Recovery Mode until you see the iTunes Summary screen that shows the following Restore button
9. Hold down the ALT key on your keyboard and click on the restore button on the screen.
10. In the window that opens find and select the file you downloaded as File 3 and click open. The File was called inoze.info.iphone4.433.activated.ipsw
11. When iTunes has completed installing the file you can setup your device as a New or restore from a backup - restoring from backup will put back all the settings and information that you saved when you followed our preparation steps.
