How to jailbreak your device using LimeRa1n by George Holtz (GeoHot)

Important: The following instructions are for the:

iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and iTouch 3G and iTouch 4G.

What you can expect

• You will be able to Activate your iPhone by following these instructions.
• you will be able to jailbreak your device and install the Cydia App portal

What you need

• You must be using a computer that has iTunes 10.0.1 installed.
• You must have a wifi connection enabled on the device to install Cydia

• iPhone and iTouch firmwares: iOS 4.0, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2, iOS 4.1

• iPad Firmware: 3.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2

Always backup your device before attempting any upgrade or jailbreak 

Jailbreak Instructions:

Step 1

Download the LimeRa1n application from here:

Download direct from www.limera1n.com

Step 2

Connect the iPhone, iPad, iTouch to the computer

Step 3

Run the LimeRa1n application and click "Make it Ra1n" then follow the onscreen instructions

Press and Hold the Home and Power Buttons together and wait for the screen to instruct you to release the Power Button.  Release the Power Button when instructed

At this point you can release the home button

Click OK and wait for the device to reboot.

On the device Limera1n may appear as a white icon or as a green raindrop icon as shown below.

Click on the Limera1n icon to install the Cydia App.  Note: You must have a wifi connection to install Cydia

Click on the Install Cydia Package

Click Install found at the top right of the screen

When the install has completed the device will appear to reboot.  However to see the Cydia icon we recommend that you press and hold the power and home buttons until the device restarts.  After the reboot you will find that the Cydia icon is installed on the device as shown below.
